Q: I recently went to Levy's
in response to their much
advertised "Storewide
Half-Price Sale." However,
when I attempted to purchase
some items at half price, I was
told only select items
were on sale. Why was
this?-H.K.

A: Consumer Information
Service has written to the
Federal Trade Commission
requesting clarification of store
sale advertisement to
determine if this was deceptive
advertising.

Q: In September 1972, I
renewed my subscription to
"Life" magazine for $21.
Shortly thereafter, "Life" went
out of business. I have heard
nothing from them. Can you
help?-R.R.

A: We wrote to "Life"about
your problem, which is typical
of such a situation. They
promptly replied with an offer
of a subscription to another
magazine of comparable value,
a satisfactory resolution.
