Group Sponsors Tour
Of Controversial Area

Nine original eighteenth and
nineteenth century homes,
out buildings, and churches will
be shown on the Green Springs
Historical Tour this weekend.

With the purpose of
"preserving this historic and
beautiful section of Virginia"
the Green Springs Association
will sponsor the tour from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow and
Monday, and from 1 to 5 p.m.
on Sunday. Tickets for the
entire tour will cost $4.50 for
the public and $2.50 for
students, while the cost of
seeing and individual house will
be $1.00

All proceeds from the tour
will be used for historic
preservation expenses of for
legal bills in the prison fight.
"Green Springs residents are
doing all they can to save the
historic area," said Asst.

The main features of the
tour will be Green Springs
Plantation, Maddox Country
Store, Prospect Hill, West End,
Bera Baptist Church,
Boswell's Tavern, Hawkwood,
Bracketts Farm and St. John's
Chapel.

Each of these structures is
recorded in the Library of
Congress's Historic American
Buildings Survey and four are
listed on the National Register
of Historic Places.

Other features will include a
daily luncheon at the Bracketts
Farm railroad depot and the
opportunity to browse at the
Green Springs Curiosity Shop.
