Career Women Meet

A Women's Career
Symposium will be held
tonight at 7.30 p.m. on the
New Chemistry Auditorium.
Sponsored by the Office of
Career Planning and Placement
in Minor Hall, the symposium
will consist of panel and small
group discussions on the
changing role of women in law,
medicine and business.

An opportunity for women
to further their careers as
United States Foreign Service
officers is now being offered
by the State Department and
the United States Information
Agency. Currently, they are
recruiting qualified women to
work in Washington, D C. and
in embassies and consulates
abroad.

The position as a woman
Foreign Service officer entails
work in five major fields:
administration, consular,
commercial/economic, political
and information/cultural.
Starting salaries range from
$9,000 to $13,000

Applications for the
required written examination
must be postmarked by
October 21 and can be
obtained at the Office of
Career Planning and Placement.

Friedman Speaks

University of Chicago
Economics Prof Milton
Friedman will speak today at 4
p m in Cabell Hall
Auditorium.

Mr Friedman is the author
of several books, articles, and
treatises on various economic
topics.

His most noted books are A
Theory of Consumption Essays
in Positive Economics,
and his
most recent book, An
Economist's Protest,
which will
be on sale tomorrow after his
speech. Mr. Friedman will
autograph his book for anyone
who purchases a copy.

The economist also writes a
column for "Newsweek" and is
considered a leading authority
in monetary economics. He is a
leading contender for the
Nobel Prize in Economics this
year.

The title of Mr. Friedman's
presentation will be "Socialist
Ends. Capitalist Means." The
public is invited and admission
is free.

Nixon Rally

The Graduate Republicans
have announced that they will
hold a meeting for all those
interested in canvassing for the
Nixon campaign in the Alumni
Prec

The meeting will be held
tomorrow at 7 p.m. in room
308 of the Law School.

Naval Scholarship

A meeting to discuss naval
scholarships for all pre-medical
and pre-dental students will be
held today at 5 p m. in the
Medical School Amphitheater

Captain T H Conway, MSC,
USN, will outline various
