IFC Sets Bus Schedule For Rush Smokers

The Inter-Fraternity
Council (IFC) will sponsor bus
transportation from the
dormitory area to fraternities
for smokers tomorrow night.

A University Transit Service
bus, chartered by the IFC, will
leave the Alderman Road
dormitories in front of Watson
House every 20 minutes
beginning at 7:30 p.m.,
returning at the end of its last
run at 12:30 a.m.

From Watson the bus will
travel along McCormick Rd. to
Rugby Road and Grady
Avenue, making several stops
before returning along
McCormick Road to Watson.

The IFC advises all students
riding the buses to carry their
ID cards with them.

All students are welcome to
attend smokers, scheduled for
8-12 p.m. No invitations are
necessary.

Chess Match Scheduled

The University of Virginia
Chess Club is sponsoring the
5th Annual University of
Virginia Open Chess
Tournament, a three-day event
expected to draw strong
players from several states.

The nationally rated
tournament begins tomorrow and
will continue through Sunday
in the Newcomb Hall
Ballroom. A $650 prize fund,
with $400 going to the winner
and various awards to the top
finisher in each class, is
offered.

Fifth Annual Chess Tournament Begins Tomorrow

Players wishing to
participate may register by 8
tomorrow. $16 entry fee ($11
under 18) plus membership in
the United States Chess
Federation, ($8 for adults, $4
for those under 20) which may
be obtained at registration, are
the only prerequisites for
participation.

The tournament will begin
at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow, 9 p.m.
Saturday and 10 a.m.
Sunday. Spectators, if they
remain quiet, are welcome.
