Police Bust Suspects Near Dorms

Charlottesville police arrested several
persons, not including any students, in
front of Dunnington House between
12:30 and 1 a.m. yesterday.

Dunnington residents who witnessed
the arrest reported that five or six
Charlottesville police cars, coming from
both directions on Alderman Road,
stopped a Volkswagen bus and arrested
its occupants.

A group of between 50 and 100
students gathered at the scene and
cheered for the suspects while the arrests
were taking place. No incidents, however,
were reported.

The vehicle bore a Waynesboro license
plate. The Department of Security
confirmed that no students were involved
in the arrests.

The Charlottesville Police Department
refused to release any further information
on the reason for the arrests or the
identity of the suspects.
