Shannon Opens UGF Fund Drive
The University has begun participating with the Charlottesville-Albemarle community in
the United Givers Fund campaign.
Within the next few days each of you will be approached by one of your fellow-workers
with regards to a "fair-share" contribution. I am confident your generosity and interest in
the welfare of others will make the University a leader and pacesetter for this annual effort.
The United Givers Fund combines in one fund-raising effort support for twenty-three
agencies vital to our community. UGF is an efficient voluntary organization which helps the
homeless, children, the aged, the sick, the mentally handicapped and many others who need
and deserve our help.
Again this year we have the opportunity of making our contribution through the payroll
deduction plan. I heartily recommend that you make your "fair-share" pledge by this
convenient method which distributes your gift in installments over a six month period.
We, at the University, have always been willing to contribute our fair share towards the
support of the UGF's community-wide projects. By this once-a-year contribution we show
that we are good citizens, responding to the needs of the area in which we live.
I urge each of you to give generously to the United Givers Fund.
President
