Alumnus Arrested At UNC Game,
Charged With Disorderly Conduct

William Henry Miller, a 1968 graduate of the
University was arrested last Saturday afternoon
after the University of North Carolina
basketball game when he allegedly threw a
bottle which shattered on the court injuring a
small boy.

Mr. Miller, who is a justice of the peace in
Grundy, Virginia was charged with disorderly
conduct in the incident which occurred at the
end of the game.

The child, Jay Crawford of Waynesboro, was
seriously cut over the right eye by flying glass.
Dr. Frank McCue, who was the athletic
physician at the basketball game, said that the
boy required nine stitches to close the cut.

Patrick Pierce, a first year student at the
university, filed the warrant for Mr. Miller's
arrest. Mr. Pierce claimed that he saw Mr. Miller
throw the bottle that resulted in the young
boy's injury.

Mr. Miller was later released on a fifty dollar
bond after his trial was set for March 25 in
Albemarle County Court.
