Corner Print Shop Remains Open
Despite Death Of Paul Victorius
Despite the death of Paul Victorius
several weeks ago, the Victorius Print
Shop will remain open on the Corner.
One of Mr. Victorius' other businesses,
a wholesale print shop, will also remain in
Charlottesville. However, Metalcrafters
bought his molding manufacturing and
wholesale frame shop and will move it to
Waynesboro.
Charles Freeman, the new owner of the
retail print shop, expects no personnel changes
at the store. He does plan a reorganization with
new decorations and more prints. He will add
the works of contemporary artists such as
Picasso to the stock of prints he normally
carries.
This expansion will proceed gradually at
first, said Mr. Freeman, and he expects that his
customers will begin to buy these new prints in
addition to their regular purchases rather than
cease to patronize the store.
He also expects an increased number of
customers from the University as a result of this
reorganization. At present, 30 per cent of his
customers are students at the University. This
should increase to nearly 50 per cent, he says.
More customers and more prints will not
require more room, due to the redecorating.
Mr. Freeman would welcome more space, but
he realizes how difficult it would be to obtain
more room on the Corner. Nevertheless, he
does not plan to leave the Corner "for the next
50 years."
