Stock Market
Bared Monday

The third and final lecture of the
session on interpreting the news will be
delivered by A.W. Zelomek, visiting
professor of Business Administration,
who will deal with the trend of the stock
market and its relationship to the overall
economy, on Monday, May 18, at 2:30 in
room 8.

The major facets contributing to the stance
of our economy, the decline of the stock
market, the broadening of the conflict in
Indochina, and the nominal decline in wholesale
prices in April will be discussed in an
attempt to gain a practical understanding of the
posture of our economic situation.

Does the greatest bear market since the 30's
foreshadow another 1929, or is the slight
decline in food and wholesale prices evidence of
a halt in the pressures?

Possible important economic repercussions
must be taken into consideration in examining
recent American entrance into Cambodia; will
it shorten the Vietnam war, or will the Soviet
Union and Red China take further action as the
result of our expansion of the war?

An open discussion period will follow the
lecture.
