Honor Society
Inducts Nurses
The University School of Nursing
Honor Society was officially established
Sunday night with the induction of
thirty-three nursing students.
The introduction ceremony was held
in the Chapel and Mr. Kenneth L. Rinker,
Director of the Nursing Service spoke to
the women on "The Future of Nursing."
Faculty and students had been working on
the establishment of such an honor society for
many years. According to Bridget Breen.
President of the new organization, women were
selected on the basis of grades, evidence of
leadership characteristics, and faculty and
student opinion.
She emphasized the fact that grades were
not the sole criterion, for many students who
had the 3.0 required cumulative grade average
were not selected for induction.
Of the thirty-three members, twenty-two are
fourth-year students while the remaining eleven
are members of the third-year class.
Selected charter members include: Anne
Barker, Sue Ellen Bivens, Mary Blount, Jan
