Medical School Appoints
Dr. Mohler Associate Dean
Dr. Daniel N. Mohler, professor of
internal medicine at the University, has
been appointed associate dean of the
University's School of Medicine.
A native of Charleston, W.Va., Dr. Mohler
received both his bachelor's and medical
degrees from the University. His graduate
training in medicine and hematology was at
Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals, the University
Hospital and Barnes and Wohl Hospitals of
Washington University in St. Louis.
A member of the University medical faculty
since 1960, he was acting chairman of the
department of medicine from December, 1967,
until the summer of 1969 when Dr. Edward
Hook joined the faculty as chairman of
medicine.
As a member of the medical school
curriculum committee, Dr. Mohler is faculty
chairman for the school's summer program for
prospective medical school applicants who
ordinarily would not meet medical school
admissions standards. The program is designed
to test new admissions criteria for the nation's
medical schools.

In research, Dr. Mohler's chief interest is red
cell metabolism in the hemolytic anemias. He
received the John Horsley Memorial Prize in
1966 for work in this field.
