IFC Ends Guards, Hostesses,
Sets Election For Next Week
Two familiar figures at fraternity
parties on past big weekends will be
conspicuously absent at Midwinter parties.
The Inter-fraternity Council Governing
Board has declared that Link Security
doormen and hostesses will no longer be
required, effective immediately.
The decision to discontinue the services of
Link Security arose from the fact that even
though some of the houses had very capable
doormen, others were forced to continue
subscribing to inadequate service.
For future weekends, the IFC is arranging a
system of patrols for the streets around the
fraternity houses. Bob Fisher, IFC president,
said he also hopes to have each fraternity
responsible for getting its own doormen and
registering him with the IFC.
The Governing Board said hostesses are no
longer needed because "of the more controlled
atmosphere of recent fraternity parties."
At this week's IFC meeting it was
announced that elections of officers will be
held at the meeting next week. The offices of
President, Vice President, Secretary, and
Treasurer will be elected by the fraternity
representatives next Tuesday night at 7:30 in
Newcomb Hall.
Only one speaker will be allowed for each
candidate. This means that either the candidate
may speak himself or the person who
nominated him may speak, but not both.
The second semester rush schedule which is
in its final organizational stage is due to begin
shortly. A tentative schedule of events coming
up for approval by the Governing Board calls
for forms to be sent out to first year men next
week and a general meeting the following week.
According to the Rush Evaluation Committee,
approximately 90 per cent of the rush
chairmen expressed a strong interest in second
semester rush.
