Black Culture
Lectures Set

In conjunction with Black Culture Week,
the University Union and the Black
Students for Freedom will present James H.
Brewer, who is to lecture today on "Slavery
History" at 2 p.m. in Wilson Hall
Auditorium, and Eugene Redmond,
Poet-in-residence at Oberlin College and
prize winner at the 1965 Festival of Arts
Poetry Contest.

Mr. Brewer, who tured Monday in
Paul Gaston's Black history class, and also
gave a talk on "America's Undigested Past:
Afro-American History," will lecture on the
history of American slaves.

At 8 p.m., Mr. Redmond will read and
discuss his works, including the poem
"Barb Cong: or We Laid My Lai
Low" n Jefferson Hall. His anthologies
include "Galaxy of Black Writing," "Negro
Voices: An Anthology of Negro Poetry,"
"The New Black Poetry," and "Poems for
My People."

Both events are free and open to the
public.
