RSU Organizes
Strike Support

The Labor Support Committee of the
University's Radical Student Union has
organized transportation to the General
Electric plant in Waynesboro to participate
with the United Electrical Workers
Union (UE) Local 124 in picketing that
plant.

According to information supplied by the
Radical Student Union, General Electric has
been able to keep its 12 regionalized unions
fragmented by use of a "divide and conquer"
policy in which Southern workers are separated
from Northern workers by the company's use
of local influences.

This policy of fragmentation has kept G.E.'s
unions separated; however, four weeks ago the
United Electrical Workers Union was reformed
from the 12 smaller unions, and now the first
nationwide strike in 23 years is taking place,
against General Electric, according to the
Radical Student Union.

In response to the general strike on G.E., the
Waynesboro plant's union will picket every day.
Interested students should contact the Radical
Student Union at 296-2064 or 296-2542 for
rides or information.
