Graduate School Votes Monday
To Fill Vacated Council Seat
Students in Graduate Arts and Sciences will
have the opportunity on Monday, October 13
to vote for a representative to Student Council.
They will elect only one representative from
the five candidates running. The five candidates
vying for this special seat on Council are: David
M. Barton, Tom Breslin, George T. Brown, Jr.,
Pedro J. Saavedra, and Randall H. Simmons.
The Cavalier Daily will run their campaign
statements in The Monday Edition.
Students are reminded that balloting will be
held only Monday 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There will
be eleven ballot boxes located at Gilmer Hall,
the Physics building, Alderman Library, Newcomb
Hall Grill, fourth floor Wilson Hall,
fourth floor Cabell Hall at both the East and
West Wing entrances, first floor Cabell Hall at
the main entrance, second floor Cabell Hall at
the parking lot entrance, and in the Old Cabell
Hall Cave.
The entire University is reminded that today
and tomorrow are the last days in which to vote
for or against ratification of the proposed
Judiciary Constitution. Changes in the new
constitution include the power to review the
decisions of all other jurisdiction bodies on the
Grounds with the exception of the Honor
Committee; the right to a public trial at the
request of the accused person; the right of
women to run for election to the Judiciary
Committee; and increasing the membership of
the committee from fifteen to nineteen
members. Students will find ballot boxes
conspicuously placed in various academic
buildings around the University.
Today is the last day voting will take place
for 'ice President and Treasurer of the class of
197. Degree applicants from the Engineering
School will vote for the vice president and
degree applicants from the School of Commerce
will vote for treasurer.
Balloting will take place between 8 a.m. and
5 p.m. Ballot boxes are located alongside those
for the new Judiciary Constitution.
