Buildings Lose Electricity
For Three Afternoon Hours

As was evident to most of us,
the lights in many of the buildings
on the Grounds went out yesterday
afternoon and remained that way
for approximately three hours. The
exact reason for the light failure
could not be determined by the
office of the Department of Buildings
and Grounds, but it was known
that the main line went out for
some reason.

Although most of the buildings
were without lighting for a few
hours, a few of the buildings were
still with electricity. An informative
source in the Buildings and
Grounds Department said that the
buildings not affected were the
hospital, the Judge Advocate
General's School, and those buildings
locate on the other side of
Emmet Street from Newcomb Hall.

After having gone out at ten
minutes after noon, the lights came
back on at approximately three.
Newcomb Hall was reportedly the
last building to regain its lighting.

One of the specific inconveniences
reported was a stalled elevator
in Alderman Library. A girl
was reportedly trapped in the elevator
for approximately 20 minutes.
Sources say that a similar predicament
occurred in Cabell Hall.
