Fraternity Decoration
Spices Next Weekend
Again this year, Homecomings
Weekend will see fraternities
decorating their houses both for
boosting school enthusiasm for the
Davidson game and for the
monetary profit involved.
Sponsored by the
Interfraternity Council, the
Cheerleaders, and the Spirit Club,
the contest's results will be viewed
by the many returning alumni as
well as the first-weekend rushees,
and, according to Mike Chamowitz,
chairman of the IFC committee on
athletics, should be a matter of
personal pride on the part of each
fraternity.
Prizes for this year are much
more extensive and motivating and
will be given to the two best
decorative efforts. First prize
includes a $150 cash gift, two kegs
of beer, and 30 free date tickets to
the game. Second prize carries a
$100 incentive and a keg of beer.
Judging will take place Saturday
morning at 9:30 with the emphasis
on originality, imagination, color,
workmanship, and overall
appearance. Dean Canevari, Ed
Hayes, president of the IFC, Mr.
Chamowitz, Barton Reutlinger,
president of the Spirit Club, and
Jim O'Koon, captain of this year's
cheerleading squad, will be the
judges.
The winning house will receive
its date tickets before the game and
the two winners will be announced
at the game during the half-time
activities.
The three organizations
providing the prizes are the Alumni
Association providing the cash, the
IFC supplying the beer, and the
Athletic Department offering the
30 date tickets.
For all those houses interested
in starting immediately, a good
thing to remember is that Davidson
is also known as the Wildcats.
