Anti-Induction Pledge Circulated
Currently circulating a statement
titled Vietnam Commencement,
the Charlottesville Draft
Opposition is supporting an antiwar
and anti-draft pledge.
The statement is concerned
with the approaching induction of
"three-fifths of the men graduating
this June." Opposition to
the war and to the draft laws is
expressed in a pledge distributed
by the Draft Opposition.
The pledge to refuse induction
states "Our war in Vietnam is unjust
and immoral. As long as the
United States is involved in this
war I will not serve in the
Armed Forces."
A pledge to support draft resistors
was also in the statement.
Intended for those not subject to
the draft, it pledged encouragement,
counsel, and financial aid.
