Policy Problems
Tomorrow Night

Former ambassador Murat W.
Williams will address the Jefferson
Society tomorrow night in
a talk entitled "Where Our Foreign
Policy Has Failed."

The speech will be given in
Jefferson Hall on the West
Range, beginning at 8 p.m., and
will be open to the public.

Mr. Williams, a Rhodes Scholar
and 1935 alumnus of the
University, was assistant to the
Deputy Undersecretary of State
from 1951 to 1953 and Deputy
Director of the Office of Greek,
Turkish, and Iranian Affairs from
1956 to 1959.

For the next three years, he
served as counselor at the Embassy
in Tel Aviv, Israel, and
in 1961 was appointed American
ambassador to San Salvador.

From 1964 until his recent retirement,
Mr. Williams served as
deputy director of coordination
for the State Department's Bureau
of Intelligence and Research.
