Outing Club Sponsors Ski Film

A skiing holiday in the Selkirk
Mountains of British Columbia
is the subject of Hans
Gmoser's new feature production
"Rendezvous in the Selkirks," a
90-minute color film to be shown
Friday night at 7:30 in Gilmer
Hall by the University Outing
Club.

The entire cast in the famous
producer's tenth film classic are

expert skiers, including Olympian
Scott Henderson, Canada's top
male competitor.

Narrated by the skiers themselves,
the movie recounts the
week-long vacation of seven explorers
who set off daily to ski
the snow fields of the Adamant
Range.

Set against spectacular scenery,
the story includes such adventures
as a fox chase from one
end of a glacier to the other and
leaps off towering 50-foot ice
cliffs.

One by one, as the movie progresses,
the skiers relate tales
of the past winter, among them
the description of competition on
the rugged international ski circuit
and ski guiding in the Rockies.

Lloyd Sumner, an outing club
member, said the Hans Gmoser
production is to skiing as
the recent motion picture "Endless
Summer" was to surfing.

Tickets are on sale at Mincers',
Newcomb Hall Main Desk, the
University Sport Shop, Cary's
Camera Shop, Timberlake's, and
the Downtown Athletic Store.

Due to the attendance of numerous
out-of-town visitors who
will be here for the showing, the
number of tickets available for
sale is limited.
