Q: Early in February I
ordered a robe from the House
of Fashion in Burlington,
North Carolina. By
mid-February I had received
my canceled check, so I wrote
asking why I had not received
my robe. Shortly thereafter I
received a card saying my order
would soon be sent. So far I
have heard nothing further. –
Mrs. M.S.
A: CIS contacted the House
of Fashion upon receiving the
complaint. Within a week, the
robe was received. Mail orders
normally take 6-8 weeks for
delivery. Often, however, the
orders become tied up in the
shipping department, and in
this respect third party
intercession can be helpful.
Q: In September, 1972, I
sent a picture to be made into
a poster to The College Market
in Houston, Texas. The check
was cashed, but I have lost the
company's address. Could you
help me to trace this firm to
get my order filled? –V.R.
A: CIS wrote to the Texas
Assistant Attorney General's
Office asking for help in
tracing The College Market.
Within two weeks they located
the corporation responsible for
the business of The College
Market, asked them to
promptly take care of their
backlogged orders and had
received an explanation as to
the delay and assurance the
situation would be corrected.
Several weeks later we received
carbon copies of all
correspondence between The
College Market and V.R. If any
ads of The College Market are
found, please bring them to the
attention of CIS as they might
be outdated, which was the
source of V.R.'s problem.
