Bookstore Inventory Closes Shelves

By KATHY NUNNELEY

Newcomb Hall Bookstore
has been temporarily
rearranged while inventory is
taken of the present stock.

The shelves have been
blocked off to public browsing
by desks so that first semester
books can be categorized
according to publishing
companies.

The books will then be
counted and sent back to the
publishers so that second
semester books can be
accommodated.

Books may still be
purchased, but buyers must be
waited on by a bookstore
employee instead of locating
the book themselves.

"Many college bookstores
do their business this way,"
said bookstore manager Randy
Shiflett, "but it is much more
time consuming than the self
service process usually
employed by this bookstore."

Teachers are now submitting
second semester book orders
and these will be checked with
the present stock to ensure
that books are not reordered,
resulting in overstocking of
certain books.

The new Telex ordering
process has expedited
shipments.

First semester books will be
sent back in two to three
weeks. Mr. Shiflett stated that
when the new books are
shelved, the bookstore will
resume normal self-service
operation.
