Austin Implements Program
To Direct Student Careers

By LAURA HAMMEL

Asst. Counseling Director
Brian M. Austin will conduct
short-term counseling groups
to aid underclassmen in
planning academic courses at
the University and to help
clarify the students' future
career directions.

Session Goals

The goals of the
group-sessions will be to
familiarize students with their
personal and academic
strengths, their educational and
career interest patterns, their
personality traits and life style
preferences, and the variety of
departmental programs
available at the University.

Various types of
psychological inventories will
be administered to the
participants. They are designed to
measure interests, abilities, life
goals and personality traits.
Students will also participate in
a variety of group activities
planned to aid students in their
attempt to learn more about
themselves.

Early Opportunity

"I am hoping particularly
that students in their early
stages of degree planning, first
and second-year students, will
view this as an opportunity to
begin thinking early as opposed
to waiting until second
semester of their second year,"
Mr. Austin commented.

Group sessions will begin
tomorrow at 3 p.m. There will
be other groups starting at a
later date for those students
not able to begin at this time.
Students interested in
individual career or educational
counseling should contact the
Counseling Center or call
924-3633 for an appointment.
