Admissions Office Announces Tour

The Admissions Office has announced
its "Spring Tour 1972" a series of
programs "designed to augment the
University's regular recruitment efforts,
while at the same time strengthening the
continuing relationship with secondary
schools throughout the Commonwealth."

The programs are especially aimed at
high school juniors who are black or
members of other disadvantaged
minorities. The tour will try to present
these students with another option in
terms of the University as a viable
educational choice.

Students from the Richmond public
schools will be here today, those from
T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria
will be here on Thursday, Brunswick High
School students from Southside, Va., will
be here next Monday, Washington D.C.
high school students will come Tuesday,
May 9, Norfolk public school students
arrive Monday, May 15 and students from
Nansemond County will be here Tuesday,
May 16.

University undergraduate students
from the listed areas are encouraged to
attend. Discussions will be held from 10
to 11:30 a.m. in the South Meeting
Room of Newcomb Hall on those days
the students will be here.

Tryouts To Begin

Preliminary tryouts for the 1972-73
cheerleading squad will be held tomorrow
and Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at
Memorial Gymnasium. There are six
positions open for women and six for
men. All rising second, third and fourth
year students are encouraged to try out.
Candidates will be asked to sing the
"Good—Ole Song" and the original Wahoo
cheer. Final selections will be held the
following Monday and Tuesday at Mem.
Gym.

Resident Staff Applications

Students interested in working in the
Resident Staff Program for the Summer
Session may apply at the Office of
Student Affairs, 4 Kent House.

To be eligible, applicants must be
enrolled in the Summer Session and have
a 2.0 minimum grade point average.

Application forms must be returned to
the Student Affairs Office before Friday.

GSAS To Preregister

Preregistration for the Graduate
School of Arts and Sciences Summer
Session will take place in the Graduate
School Office, 438 Cabell Hall only
during the first week of preregistration,
May 8-12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
from 2 to 4 p.m.

All August degree applicants are urged
to complete their registration for the
summer session by May 19.
