Charleston Car Crash Injures Wahoo Cheerleaders

Three University coeds suffered
injuries in a two-car collision in
Charleston, W. Va., Tuesday evening on
their way to the basketball game.

Admitted to Charleston General
Hospital for observation were Leslie
Levinson with an injured pelvis, and
cheerleaders Kathy McMullan and Alexa
Ratway. Miss McMullan suffered from a
fractured sternum, and Miss Ratway
received a concussion.

The accident occurred when the
vehicle in which the girls were riding was
struck while crossing an intersection
within two blocks of the Charleston Civic
Center.

Charleston City Police said they placed
no charges in the collision, which took
place at 7 p.m., an hour before the West
Virginia basketball game.

The three girls were admitted to a
Charleston hospital in satisfactory
condition.

A spokesman for the Department of
Athletics said that the basketball team
knew of the accident before the game
started.

Teaching Certification

Second-year students who want to be
certified for teaching should contact the
Office of Admissions and Student Affairs
of the School of Education for

Programs", before Feb. 15.

With this new procedure, the School
of Education hopes to "provide more and
earlier advising services" for students. The
school will recommend for certification
only those students who have completed
one of the school's Approved Programs.
