Allman Brother Killed

A motorcycle accident Friday night
caused the death of Duane Allman, leader of
the rock group, the Allman Brothers.

The 24-year-old musician was killed when
his cycle ran into the rear of a truck that was
making a right turn ahead of him. Hospital
authorities said Mr. Allman died in the
operating room shortly after being admitted.
The officers and staff of Atlantic Records
expressed "deep sorrow over the untimely
death of Duane Allman, our friend and artist.
His music was an inspiration to everyone."

The Allman Brothers had been scheduled to
perform at the University September 25, but
had to cancel plans due to a court hearing they
faced on drug charges. Authorities could not be
reached concerning whether the death of Mr.
Allman will affect tentative plans for an Allman
Brothers' concert December 11.
