The Medical School and the graduate

elections on October 6 and 7 to fill
vacancies on the 1971-72 Student
Council.

and Thursday in 16 major academic
centers around the University.

At present, third-year Graduate Arts-and
Science student, Mary Ann McDermott, and Pat
Barker, a second-year. Medical student have
turned in their declarations of candidacy along
with a petition of 25 names to the Student
Council. Both students are eligible, since they
have a year in prospect at their respective
schools.

One position in each of the two schools is
open, because no one chose to run last spring.

Mary Ann McDermott, running as an
independent, served as a representative on the
Council last year. If elected she would be the
second representative of the Graduate School
of Arts and Sciences for the full 1971-72 year.

Pat Barker is the first student to run for
position on the Student Council from the
Medical School in recent years. Student Council
President Tom Collier says he hopes that the
Medical School representative will help the
Council make decisions which will directly help
the Medical School.
