Thirteen Society, Phi Beta Kappa
Honor Outstanding Achievements

The 13 Society has announced the
names of their new members. Ten
graduating students were selected on the
basis of their "unselfish service to the
University and outstanding achievement
in their respective fields of activity."

The new members are Hugh Antrim,
vice president of the Student Council;
David Morris, president of the College of
Arts and Sciences; S. Davis Bowman, vice
president of the College of Arts and
Sciences; Howard Wilkinson, president of
the School of Engineering; and Mike
Cohen, a member of the Student Council.

Phi Beta Kappa

John Hopewell, president of the
Graduate School of Arts and Sciences;
Gordon Lee Garrett, secretary of the College;
Ferdinand Johns, president of the School of
Architecture; Hugh Ewing, president of the
Graduate School of Business; and Steve
Brickman, chairman of counselors, are other
newly selected members of the society.

Eighty-two University students were
initiated into Phi Beta Kappa, a national
honorary fraternity, last Tuesday in the
Rotunda.

Graduate Students

Newly elected members in the Graduate
School of Arts and Sciences are Thomas E.J.
DeWitt, James A. Haw, and Michael J.
McQuillen.

New members in the College of Arts and
Sciences of the class of 1972 are Neal J. Beets,
John T. Burwasser, Robert J. Cohen, John T.
Golden, Robert M. Golden, Gary P. Gross, Ross
A. Howell, Jody R. Jaffe, Vernon T. Lankford
Jr., Stephen F. Mershon, and Dennis S. Rooker.

Out-of-state members in the class of 1971
are Kim J. Hopper, John P
Ochenkowski,
William B. Fryer, Michael B. Waitzkin, Henry L.
Bowden Jr., Duncan B. McRae, Laurence O.
Burman, and Keith J. Kimble.

Also initiated were Richard S. Amundsen,
Robert M. Crawford, Stuart J. Fisher, Jack M.
Zackin, Corbin G. Eissler, Richard A. Gross,
Frederic J. Leffel and Joseph S. Miller.

Out-of-State Members

Other out-of-state members in the class of
1971 include James B. Hawes Jr., Paul A.
Hoover III, Louis E. Bricklin, Martin A.
Flayhart, Harry A. Glover Jr., James W.
