VPP, JP Conventions Name Candidates
For Student Council, Judiciary Positions

Fifty members of the Virginia Progressive
Party nominated six students to run
for the Student Council and the Judiciary
Committee in the VPP convention last
Thursday night.

In the Judiciary Committee nominations, four
students ran for the VPP nominations. They
were Brian Siegel, Ralph Noyes, Tom Goss, and
Fred Johnson. Messrs. Siegel, Goss, and
Johnson were nominated.

In the Student Council nominations, seven
students competed for three spots. Those
selected were Robert Levin, Guy Lob, and
Willy Ivey.

Jeffrey Kirsch, president of the VPP, announced
that the candidates would begin to
formulate their platforms and campaigns before
Thanksgiving Break.

In their recent convention, the 200 members
of the Jefferson Party also made its nominations
for the six Council and Judiciary posts.

Those chosen to run on the JP ticket for
Student Council were Scott Stephens, Mark
Warner, and Bob Voyles. Bill Garner, Bill
McSherry, and Dave Llewellyn were selected to
compete for positions on the Judiciary
Committee.

The campaigns will officially begin Sunday,
November 29, and the elections will be held
Wednesday and Thursday, December 9 and 10.
Like the VPP, the JP candidates have also
begun the formulation of their campaign
platforms.
