Mrs. McGovern Speaks On Controversial Issue
In Address To Law Wives Organization Tonight

Eleanor S. McGovern, wife of Senator
George McGovern of South Dakota will
address the law wives organization tonight
at 8:30 in Newcomb Hall. Senator
McGovern spoke here a year ago at
University Hall.

A native of Woonsocket, South Dakota,
the former Eleanor Stegeberg graduated
as salutorian from Woonsocket Public
High School where she was active in
forensics. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University
and worked for a short time as a legal
secretary. She married George McGovern in
1943.

Mrs. McGovern is the mother of five children
and recently became a grandmother for the
first time. The McGoverns currently live in
Northwest Washington. For several years they
were neighbors of Senator Hubert Humphrey in
Chevy Chase Maryland.

Because Mrs. McGovern has been in Nassau
the topic of Mrs. McGovern's speech is unavailable.
She has been asked to speak on a
controversial topic.

Mrs. McGovern is a member of the Women's
National Democratic Club and the Democratic
Congressional Wives Forum.
