Students Gather To Hear Explanation Of Charlottesville Court Order.

Following is a statement issued by student
leaders of the proposed class boycott.

Students at the University are urged to
protest America's expanding involvement
in Southeast Asia and its repressive
effects in America by boycotting their
classes and participating in Freedom Day
activities tomorrow and Thursday. We
feel the best way in which to carry out
this protest is peacefully, by respecting
the rights of everyone in the University
community.

We have provided marshals to preserve the
autonomy of the University during the various
activities. We ask further that all participants
and observers offer their co-operation in
preventing needless conflict, either between
students themselves or with outside authorities.

We urge those persons who feel they cannot
accept this protest without reacting violently to
stay away from the activities, and if possible
from the University community. We also urge
our fellow students to avoid provoking or
participating in any acts of violence. Only by
maintaining peace and respect for each other
can we make our stand felt in the true spirit of
this University.
