Government Majors Meet
For Departmental Reform
Graduate and undergraduate majors in
the Department of Government and
Foreign Affairs will meet with the
department faculty Tuesday, March 24 at
7:30 p.m. in Wilson Hall Auditorium to
discuss departmental reforms and
communication.
According to Stu Pape, who will be
one of the undergraduate representatives
leading the meeting, "no decisions are to
be made. It is hoped that channels of
communication will be re-established
after the difficulties of the past few
weeks."
"We also hope that progress will be made
toward resolution of the substantive issues that
concern the students and the faculty,"
continued Mr. Pape.
The meeting will be led by Laurin Henry, a
professor in the department. Other faculty
members who will assist Mr. Henry are Ralph
Eisenberg, an associate professor, and Leigh
Grosenick, an assistant professor in the
department.
Three students besides Mr. Pape will also
assist in leading the meeting. Dave Armstrong
and Jack Sangster, who are both graduate
government majors, and lke Moore, who is an
undergraduate department major, will help.
Some of the issues that may be discussed in
the meeting will be the process of decision
making in the department, the role of students
in those processes, the recruitment of black
students and faculty, improvement of the
undergraduate and graduate advising programs,
and an overhaul of the graduate teaching
assistant program.
