Wilson Fellows

Eight University students have been
named Woodrow Wilson designates for
1970-71 by the Woodrow Wilson National
Fellowship Foundation.

The eight, five of them Virginians, are
among 1,153 college seniors from the United
States and Canada designated by the Foundation
as among the best future college and
university teachers on the continent. Chosen
from more than 12,000 nominees, the designates
are recommended to graduate school
deans for financial aid.

Fifteen regional selection committees named
the Woodrow Wilson designates on the basis of
recommendations by professors, a 1,000-word
statement of their intellectual interests and
interviews.

Designates named from the University are
Victor N. Cabas, Paul C. Hurdle, Mark E.
Kidwell, Walter H. Schumacher, Christopher J.
Thaiss, Stephen C. Voss, John P. Wikswo Jr.,
and George B. Wolcott.
