Student Radio Station Donates
Two Hours To Transition Program

WUVA, the University's student-owned
and operated radio
station, will devote two hours of
each broadcasting night from Saturday,
April 12 through Thursday,
April 17, to raise finds for the
Transition Program.

Special advertising will be sold
for the hours of 10 p.m. until
midnight during the special week,
with the money being given to the
Fund. The contributions of
merchants will be frequently cited
over the air, as will the donations
from students. WUVA will man
receptacles at various points in the
dormitory areas, to facilitate the
receiving of student's gifts.

No goal has been set for the
drive. According to Corporation
President Lee Whitney, early response
to the special broadcasts will
determine the setting of a target
figure.

Mr. Whitney called the Transition
Program fund drive "one of
the best opportunities the students
have ever had to show their belief
in the progress of education." He
stated that WUVA's participation in
the drive "is another way of
showing how the media can be of
service to the community."
