Wreck Claims Student;
Biology Professor Dies

Cavalier Daily Staff Writer
A twenty-year-old University
student was fatally injured in a
two-car, head-on crash on Virginia
route 15, three and a half miles
north of Gordonsville on March 21.
The accident occurred at about
12:50 a.m.
Dead is Kellam Hooper,Jr. of
White Stone, Virginia. Mr. Hooper,
who was a second-year student in
the School of Engineering, was
pronounced dead on arrival at
University Hospital at 1:45 a.m. A
passenger in the car. Joseph
Tennant also twenty, of Houston.
Texas was injured critically. Mr.
Tennant, who is a second-year
student in the College, was removed
from the critical list Sunday at
University Hospital. He suffered
facial and head lacerations and
multiple injuries.
Hooper and Tennant were
returning to Charlottesville at the
time of the collision. The driver of
the north-bound car was Mrs. Ellyse
Bryant of Orange. She was
reportedly in fair condition after
receiving treatment for injuries she
