Use Of Military Force Overseas
Questioned In Law Symposium

In cooperation with the
University's School of Law, the
John Basset Moore Society of
International Law and the
American Society of International
Law will sponsor a symposium on
"The Constitution and the Use of
Military Force Abroad," at the
University on Friday, February 28,
and Saturday, March 1.

The symposium will start at 2
P.M. with welcoming remarks
which will be followed by the first
panel at 2:15 on "The Power of the
Executive to Use Military Force
Abroad." Hardy C. Dillard,
professor of the University's School
of Law and former President of the
A.S.I.L., will serve as moderator
while Murray J. Belman of the
State Department and Quincy
Wright of the University of Chicago
will be the panelists. W. Taylor
Reveley, III, from the University of
Alabama, and Lawrence R. Velvel
of the University of Kansas will act
as the commentators for the
discussion.

At 10 A.M. the next day, the
second panel, this time concerning
"The Use of Domestic Courts to
Challenge Employment of Military
Force Abroad," will convene with
Edward A. Kolodziej, chairman of
the University's Department of
Government and Foreign Affairs,
acting as moderator.

Registration for the program
will take place at 11 A.M. Friday
and will cost $6. The fee will
include the price of both cocktails
and dinner Friday night, however, it
is not necessary to pay the fee to
attend only the panel discussions.
