Fund Drive
Starts Today
Representatives from the
University Union will start
campaigning for the annual Cavalier
Fund Drive tonight.
This year donations are going to
be divided between the local
chapter of the United Givers Fund
and the Albemarle-Charlottesville
Rescue Squad. This drive will be
especially important to the local
rescue squad in that they must
survive entirely on gifts and
donations to operate.
As the University Hospital has
no ambulance service, it is this
rescue squad that serves Virginia
students in time of need.
The Cavalier Fund Drive is being
organized this year by third-year
man Whitt Clement. He emphasizes
that this is the only
student-oriented drive of the year,
and, thus, it will be the only time
that contributions will be asked
from the students.
"It is hoped that all students
will give generously to this
once-a-year drive," Clement stated.
"Any student not approached, yet
wishing to contribute, may leave his
donation in the Director's office on
the fourth floor of Newcomb Hall.
Checks should be made payable to
the Cavalier Fund Drive.
Student workers will solicit in
the McCormick Road and
Alderman Road dormitories, as well
as the Lawn tonight, Wednesday,
and Thursday evenings from eight
to eleven this week. Next week
donations will be sought on
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
evenings during the same hours.
