English Majors
Gain Membership
On Committee

At a meeting of the
undergraduate English majors held
last Thursday night, fourth-year
man Jere R. Abrams and third-year
man Dennis Unkovic were elected
to serve as student representatives
on the English Department's
Committee, on Undergraduate
Studies.

The two students will
participate in all future English
department curriculum and policy
planning for undergraduates and
will serve as representatives of their
student constituency in channeling
suggestions to the department. In
addition, they will keep in constant
communication with majors in the
department.

The English department thus
becomes the first undergraduate
department to include students on
a full basis in the roles.

"We intend for the elected
students to play as full and
constructive a role as possible," said
Arthur C. Kirsch, associate
professor of English. Mr. Kirsch
added that since this is the first
year the department will have
serving on the nine-man
policy-planning committee there
may be many functions for them to
fulfill which have not yet been
anticipated.

Mr. Abrams and Mr. Unkovic
can be contacted through their
mailboxes in room 532 of Cabell
Hall.
