Rose Unseats Andrews In Bid
For Presidency Of WUVA Radio

In elections held Tuesday
night third-year man Norvell
Rose unseated third-year man
Wyatt Andrews as president of
WUVA radio station.

Mr. Andrews had been
president and was seeking
re-election for the coming year.

Mr. Rose had been
secretary to the board of
WUVA. As president, he will
also serve as chairman of the
board and be responsible for
the overall operation of the
radio station.

Mr. Rose said he is going
"to strive for a definite initial
organization at the beginning
of next semester."

He said he would like to see
the radio station continue its

"serious attitude towards
professionalism in radio" and
"spread the word about the
opportunities available in radio
and television."

He said the Jefferson Cable
Corporation "has offered us a
chance to do all sorts of
creative programming" and
that WUVA offers anyone
interested an opportunity to
receive "practical experience in
television."

He emphasized that since
WUVA is a commercial radio
station they have "to stress
professionalism. But that
doesn't mean it has to be dry
and lacking of all that's
enjoyable in radio."

Also elected Tuesday were
John Baxa, who ran unopposed
for the position of executive
vice president and station
manager, Rick Fowler, who
became vice president and
program director; Joel Rubin,
the new secretary of the board
and director of news and
public affairs; Mike Mares, who
was re-elected as treasurer of
the corporation; and Lynn
Richardson, who was elected
secretary to the board.

Mr. Rose said he hopes Mr.
Andrews will remain with
WUVA, possibly as the director
of the training program.
