Project FIND
The Volunteer Community
Service Office of Madison Hall
has been asked to act as the
campus representative for
Project FIND, a national effort
to make food assistance
programs (food stamps)
available to elderly people.
Students, faculty and
community volunteers are
needed to give one three-hour
session during the month of
October. During this time they
will work with the local
American Red Cross Chapter in
locating elderly persons in
Charlottesville who are eligible
to receive food stamps. The
American Red Cross is acting as
a liaison group between the
Social Security and Welfare
Agencies in this effort.
The workers will aid the
elderly in filling out their
applications dealing with the
requirements for receiving food
assistance. During a three-hour
period, a pair of workers may
help up to 10 persons with
their applications; 160 visits
have to be made, and the
program ends November 1.
