Citizens Discuss Costs

Growth in Albemarle
County–Who Will Pay the
Costs?" will be the topic of the
fall meeting of Citizens for
Albemarle on Thursday, Nov. 9
at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting at the Gordon
Avenue Branch of the McIntire
Library will feature a panel
composed of Mr. Thomas
Bergin of the University's Law
School and Mr. Gerald Fisher,
member of the Albemarle
County Board of Supervisors.

A short presentation by
each speaker will explore new
approaches taken in other
communities to deal with the
costs of growth. Environmental
costs such as air pollution, loss
of open space and visual
pollution will be considered.
The public is invited to attend.

A short business meeting,
and the election of new officers
will precede the discussion.

Election Coverage

Three televisions will be in
operation at St. Thomas Hall,
Alderman Rd., tonight for
anyone interested in watching
election returns coverage.
Refreshments will be served.

Tutoring Center

Madison Hall's Tutoring
Program has established a
Drop-In Tutoring Center in the
Westminster Presbyterian
Church seminar room at 190
Rugby Road. The Center will
be open Tuesdays and
Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.
beginning today.

Tutors will be at the Center
to aid school children unable
to participate in the regular
tutoring program or who need
assistance with an assignment.

becoming tutors or who want
more information should call

Cheeseburger Saved

"Operation Ronald", a
local effort to save the
McDonald's double
cheeseburger, has succeeded,
according to the "Big Mac"
spokesman for the group.

McDonald's has put the
double cheeseburger back on
its menu.

"Operation Ronald"
sponsored a mass visit to
McDonald's Saturday night to
show its support for the double
cheeseburger which
McDonald's had threatened to
discontinue.

Mr. Mac added that his
organization will continue to
guard against any attempts to
remove the double
cheeseburger from the
McDonald's menu.

Typist Needed

Student Council has
announced a need for a good
typist to type appropriations
by Thursday, and will pay $5
for the completed job.
