W & M Hosts Chinese Ping-Pong Team
The 13-man table tennis team from
the People's Republic of China will
present an exhibition at the College of
William and Mary April 16.
According to a Colonial Williamsburg
spokesman, although the itinerary has not
been completed, the team is expected to
tour the historic area prior to the
exhibition matches.
The team is in this country as the
guest of the U.S. Table Tennis
Association and the National Committee
on U.S.-Chinese Relations. The
Williamsburg stop is one of several the
group will make on a two-week tour.
The matches are scheduled from 2-4
p.m., and admission is $1. Tickets may be
obtained at William and Mary Hall.
Poetry Contest
The Academy of American Poets will
offer a $100 prize for the best poem or
group of poems submitted by a
University student.
There is no restriction on number,
form or word length of individual poems,
but students are requested not to submit
more than 120 lines of poetry. All
contributions must be turned into the
English Department, 115 Wilson Hall, by
April 20.
Faculty Meeting
The Assembly of Professors, which
consists of all faculty members at the
University, will meet tomorrow at 4 p.m.
in 308 Wilson Hall. The election of new
officers will be one of several items on
the agenda.
Present officers are Dante Germino,
president; Robert Fair, secretary; and
Charles Woltz, Chairman of the
Contractual Relations Committee.
Law Scholarship
A third-year law student at the
University has been named to receive the
Constance Baker Motley Scholarship
Award for law school study during the
current school year.
Miss Gwendolyn L. Jones will receive
the annual $1,200 award established by
the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund in
1967. The award honors a former judge of
the U. S. District Court for the Southern
District of New York
A former president of the Borough of
Manhattan in New York City, Mrs.
Motley served for many years as an
attorney and associate counsel of the
defense fund organization.
Miss Jones was an honor student at
Booker T. Washington High School in
Norfolk and graduated Cum Laude from
Hampton Institute. She expects to
graduate from the University's School of
Law this June.

All candidates in Honor Committee
elections must file campaign expenditures
reports with the Student Elections
Committee by 4 p.m., April 20.
Candidates must remove campaign
materials from the Grounds by today in
order to receive their $10 bond refunds.
