Oxford Scholar To Lecture
"The Relevance of the University" will
be probed by one of Britain's foremost
intellectuals and public servants in a
lecture Monday.
Lord Redcliffe-Maud, Master of
University College, Oxford, will speak at
4 p.m. in Cocke Hall.
Lord Redcliffe-Maud has been
permanent secretary of the Education
and Fuel and Power Ministries,
ambassador to South Africa and chairman
of the Royal Commission on Local
Government in England.
Lord Redcliffe-Maud and his wife are
visiting the University at President
Shannon's invitation.
WUVA Honor Forum
WUVA News will present an open
forum Monday night to inform students
about the issues being considered in the
upcoming Honor Referendum.
The program will begin at 9:30, and
listeners' calls will be aired as Honor
Committee Chairman Tom Bagby and
Law School President Nick Davidson
respond to comments and questions.
Mr. Bagby and Mr. Davidson will also
discuss the single sanction and overall
effectiveness of the Honor System.
Poll Results Available
A limited number of copies of the
Honor Committee poll, results which
were analyzed in Monday's Cavalier Daily
may be obtained in the Honor Committee
office on the fourth floor of Newcomb
Hall. These copies will be distributed on a
first come first serve basis.
Scholarship Prize
A cash prize of $100 will be awarded
by the Beta of Virginia chapter of Phi
Beta Kappa for the best work of
scholarship produced by a member of the
University during 1971 in the fields of
the humanities, the social sciences, and
law.
Entries may be in the form of
published books or articles, unpublished
manuscripts, or galley or page-proofs.
The competition is open to anyone
who was a member of the University,
either as a student or a member of the
faculty, at any time during 1971.
Entries must be delivered before
March 27 to the chapter
Secretary-Treasurer Miss Roy Land in the
Circulation Department of Alderman
Library.
Medical Seminar
"The History of Medical Teaching in
the United States: The Early Period" will
be the topic of a public seminar chaired
by Medical Prof. William B. Bean today at
1 p.m. in the Medical School Tumor
Clinic.
Funeral Correction
The information printed in yesterday's
Cavalier Daily concerning funeral services
for Richard W. Ebe, Jr., former
University printing director, was
incorrect. The graveside ceremony will be
today at 1 p.m. at Monticello Memorial
Park. The family requests that no flowers
be sent.
