Dinner Theater Announces Spring Season

The Albemarle Playhouse Dinner
Theater announced its spring season
yesterday. The playhouse will remain in
its present location on Route 250 West
despite earlier reports that it would move
at the end of the fall season. Production
for the spring season which begins in late
January will include "Cabaret," "The
Rainmaker", and "You're a Good Man,
Charlie Brown".

Bicycle Recommendations

Allen Barringer, chairman of the
University Subcommittee on Bicycles, has
released an outline of the Subcommittee's
report which will be submitted for the
approval of President Edgar F. Shannon
in January.

The report proposes the construction
of extensive bike trails, especially in the
areas around Cabell Hall, Wilson Hall and
other classroom areas. In terms of
immediate changes the study calls for the
banning of all bikes from the Lawn
(except for walking them across) and a
"strict crackdown" on violations
committed by bicycle riders, according to
Mr. Barringer. Violations include the
running of stop signs and riding at night
without a light and rear reflector.

If the report is approved, the
Subcommittee is optimistic that the trails
will be ready by spring of 1972. "The
University," Mr. Barringer stated, "is
interested in encouraging bike riding as
part of the solution to the traffic
problem. They are willing to invest a lot
of money in making it easier for people
to ride bikes."
