Student Surplus Exists On College Rolls

During a recent meeting with members of
the Student Council, President Edgar F.
Shannon announced that there are a sizeable
number of students in the College of Arts and
Sciences who are unaccounted for.

According to Peter Gillespie, Vice President
of the student body, Mr. Shannon said, "There
are 850 more people than we expected in the
College this year and nobody knows where they
came from." Mr. Shannon added that the
problem had been given to the Office of
Institutional Analysis.

Eugene Paige, of that office reported that
the search would possible take two weeks in
that each student in the college would have to
be checked through the computer one by one.
He also said that he believed the majority of
"extra" students would turn out to be transfers
from other schools within the University. "At
the moment," he said, "the figures aren't
available."

The Record, a journal of opinion, will begin

stated in the first issue.
