Students Open Free Tax Service

A free tax service coordinated by
students in the Graduate School of
Business Administration began Saturday
and will operate on weekends until March
28.

The program is run by 85 students
from the graduate business school, about
45 per cent of the school, along with
some 40 students in the Commerce and
Law schools. Business student Robert H.
Willey, director of the program, says that the
Internal Revenue Service has told him that the
program is the largest student-administered
service in any school.

Last year 670 returns were filled out by the
business students during the span of two
weekends.

The service is free and anyone is eligible to
take advantage of it. In order to complete the
returns, all W-2 forms and a list of last year's
expenses and deductions are all that is required.
An individual tax return will be completed in
four to eight minutes.

The free service will be offered on Saturdays
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1
to 4 p.m. at the following four locations: Clark
School on Belmont Avenue, Venable School on
14th Street, Salvation Army Hall on Ridge
Street, and Hope House on Garrett Street.
