Counselor Positions Open

A meeting for all prospective
candidates for dormitory counselor
positions will be held tomorrow evening
at 7:30 in the Chemistry Building
Auditorium.

At the meeting, Chairman of
Counselors Steven Brickman and
Chairman of Upperclass Counselors
Chuck Collin will familiarize the students
with the procedures for applying and
explain the responsibilities and rewards of
being a dormitory counselor.

Application forms for the programs
will also be distributed at the meeting. All
applications and counselor recommendations
must be turned in by February 16 in the office
of Chester Titus, Associate Dean for Students
in the basement of Kent.

All undergraduate students with a 2.0
average or better can apply for the program.

Applicants must take tests on their
knowledge of the University and counseling
aptitude. All applicants with the last names
beginning from A-K should take the tests on
February 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Gilmer Hall
Auditorium.

Those students interested in applying for
counseling positions in the upperclass
dormitories will be informed of the interview
process at tomorrow's meeting.

Graduate students interested in the graduate
student counseling program can pick up
applications in Mr. Titus' office. Deadlines for
applying for this program is February 16.

Students presently in the counseling
program must attend a meeting tonight at 9:30
in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom.

If an applicant for the 1st year counselor
program scores above the cut-off line, he should
then sign up for an interview to be given
between March 1 and 4 with counselors that
they do not personally know. Sign up sheets
will be available in the Student Affairs Office in
the basement of Kent.

Those students not presently living in
dormitories should arrange recommendations
and interviews with a counselor or senior
counselor presently in the program but who is
not a fraternity brother.

Following the interviews, the Committee On
Counselors will select new counselors based on
the interview ratings.

Students with last initials L-Z should take
the tests on February 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Chemistry Building Auditorium.

Any student who cannot take the test on
the designated night, should take the test on
the other test date.

According to Mr. Brickman, because of the
number of applicants and the limited number
of positions open, a cut-off score will be
established based on the tests and counselor
recommendations. Applicants will be informed
by the Office of Student Affairs if they scored
above the cut-off line.
