Edgar F. Shannon

Abroad On Mediterranean Cruise.

President Edgar Shannon departed
from Charlottesville last week for Europe
where he donned his naval uniform and
became Captain Edgar Shannon.

When contacted the president's office
said that President Shannon, on leave for
two weeks, left November 28, and would
not return until Monday, December 14.

In addition, the President did not
take his family with him. The office of
the President refused to release any
further information.

Mrs. Shannon, however, was more willing to
give out information and explained that
President Shannon had been invited by Admiral
Turner, his close friend who is in charge of
Naval operations in the Mediterranean, to spend
two weeks with him.

During this time Captain Shannon will take
this opportunity to serve two weeks out of the
year as an active Naval officer, as required by
the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Captain Shannon will serve on ship on the
Mediterranean Sea for the entirety of his duty.
