Two University professors have edited
a book of essays on the relation of the
meaning, history and use of the term
"secularization" to the future of
Protestantism.

"Secularization and the Protestant
Prospect," published by The Westminster
Press, was edited by James F. Childress,
assistant professor of religious studies, and
David B. Harned, chairman and professor of
religious studies.

In their introduction to eight essays by
contemporary scholars, the editors trace how
the decline of religion's importance in
contemporary society, culture and individual
consciousness has become a theological topic,
discuss its meanings and explore problems still
to be studied.
