Traynor Named
Law Professor
Roger Traynor, retiring Chief Justice
of the Supreme Court of the State of
California, has been named James Monroe
Professor of Law at the University's Law
School for the spring semester.
Mr. Traynor will be replacing Hardy Dillard
who will be leaving the University to take his
seat at the International Court of Justice at the
Hague.
Mr. Traynor, before being appointed to the
court, was a professor of law. Due to his work
on the court, Mr. Traynor is considered today
as one of the top state court judges in the
country.
Mr. Traynor will be at the University for
only one semester as he is approaching 70, the
age limit for teaching at the University. He will
be teaching a course in Conflicts of Law.
